PIONEER WORKER – CHILDREN FAMILIES AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Part Time – 20 hours per week Fixed Term – initially 2 years Home based

Salary £24,600 FTE

 

The Northern Synod is seeking to invest in work with children and young people as it develops its 5 year plan for the future. As part of that plan it is initially seeking to employ a number of pioneer workers to develop existing and initiate new work with children and young people. All of the work takes account of the importance of the family context of children and young people. The URC Northern Synod covers the area from North Northumberland to Northallerton

These new positions provide an opportunity to work with a group of churches to help them pioneer new and develop existing work with children & families and with young people. The posts involve working as a member of the Northern Synod Field team and contributing to Synod strategy for working with children & families and young people. It will be essential that the worker develops good relationships with volunteers in local churches as well as effectively networking with others who work with children and young people.

This post is based in the North West and Central Newcastle group of URC churches working specifically with Jesmond URC, St Andrews Kenton URC & West End URC. The detailed foci of the work is outlined in the job description but includes developing work with local schools.

The pioneer workers will be employed by the Synod and a member of the Synod Field team and will be accountable to the Synod Children’s Work and Youth Work Advisors. Local support will be through a locally based steering group. Since the work involves travel, a full driving licence and access to a car are necessary requirements.

This appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Due to the nature of the job a full driving licence and use of car is essential.

Shortlisting: 15 June after which those selected for interview will be contacted by e-mail.

Candidates selected will be required to attend in person for face to face interviews and to meet local church representatives for the post on Friday 17 June 2022 at Jesmond URC.
