Ray Anglesea writes that a number of ecumenical friends helped to make the services during Advent, Christmas and New Year at St Andrew’s Dawson Street, Crook a joyful and happy occasion.
Revd Ruth Gee, former president of the Methodist Conference and Chair of Darlington Methodist District led the chapel’s 9th anniversary service on the 6th December 2014. The morning service celebrated the formation of the Local Ecumenical Partnership. It was followed by a delicious anniversary lunch.
On Christmas Eve 2014 two supernumerary Methodist ministers took part in a late evening service which included Holy Communion. Revd David Kinch a retired army/prison chaplain led the prayers of intercession and Revd Robert Fisher, a retired circuit superintendent presided at Holy Communion, assisted by Revd Ray Anglesea who also preached.
Revd Vince Fenton, Anglican Priest, St Catherine’s Church, Crook took part in the Epiphany Sunday/Methodist Covenant Service on the 4th January 2015 and after leading the prayers of intercession assisted Revd Ray Anglesea during the distribution of Holy Communion. Revd Ray Anglesea preached.
The Crook congregation were joined with congregational friends from St Catherine’s Church who later stayed for coffee.
