ST CUTHBERT’S CENTRE, HOLY ISLAND
Holy Island is a very special place, separated from the the rest of Northumberland by a four mile long causeway which is covered by the North Sea for five hours at a time, twice a day. As well as being a place of great natural beauty, Holy Island (also known as Lindisfarne) is the place where Christianity first arrived in England in 635 AD. It has been a place of pilgrimage ever since.
St Cuthbert’s Centre is at the heart of the Island, offering a welcome to many different visitors, and a prayerful space for individuals or groups. The Revd Rachel Poolman, Warden of St Cuthbert’s, exercises a ministry of welcome and hospitality for pilgrims and seekers and all who are drawn to this special place.
More information about the Centre, and events and activities held there, can be found on the Centre website.
