Faith streams, living waters
Join fellow pilgrims from across Northern Synod for five days of spiritual and physical exercise, a time for worship, walking and dining together.
Northern Synod’s 2016 annual pilgrimage is different this year. Rather than the usual format of a linear walk that journeys over several days along a particular pathway towards a certain destination, we are travelling out each day from the central hub of the Windermere Centre to different places of saintly interest in the Lakes and back again.
We will follow in the footsteps of St Patrick (Patterdale), St Oswald (Grasmere) and St Herbert (Derwent Water), among others. Each day will be part of the whole physical and spiritual journey and we aim for the central hub to be the place where we centre ourselves at the start and close of each day – reflecting and gaining spiritual refreshment. The aim is to exercise and strengthen both our bodies and souls.
The days will involve some minibus travel and then an undulating walk which will be between 8-10 miles for which good walking boots and (most probably) waterproofs will be necessary.
Because this is a pilgrimage we encourage people to commit to the whole experience and would not expect anyone to come and just participate on occasional days.
