If like me you have been involved or visited a Messy Church then you will know the joy that is to be found there, but what about a different type of messy Church possibly during the daytime, a means for your church to reach out and connect with those in your community who may be lonely in need of conversation and company? Then why not take a look at the new idea of Vintage Messy Church.
How does this differ from Messy Church?
Here the emphasis in on having time to chat more while still having a Biblical context it could be topical so that it makes very obvious links to your community or the needs of the adults you are aiming to invite.
There does not need to be as many crafts but it may be nice to have a table with newspapers on where folks may wish to highlight items of concern that could be used in a time of prayer, a games table of dominoes or draughts, both of these activities may be comfortable ways of welcoming men who may feel less sure. Craft tables could include card making, painting enabling people to depict the Bible theme for themselves.
Following a small act of worship tea could simply be cake and a cuppa who knows the cakes could be decorated or baked during the session allowing folks who enjoy baking the chance to make something for themselves and others, something they may not do very often if they live alone.
