Burned scones apart, our Moderator’s St Valentine’s Day drop-in on Saturday 14 February to raise funds for a visit to the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique has proved very successful.
A steady stream of people from across the Synod came and went throughout the day, sampling the lovely home cooking, watching a slide-show of a previous visit to Mozambique, and enjoying the relaxed and convivial atmosphere. A large selection of cakes and hot drinks was available throughout the day, with hot broth at lunch time.
The evening meal consisted of a starter of pear and stilton salad or smoke salmon, a main of venison casserole or beetroot Bourguignon, both served with mixed vegetables, and a dessert of chocolate truffle heart or lemon cheesecake, followed by coffee and mints.
The fantastic sum of £897 was raised for the Mozambique Partnership Fund, with Gift Aid added to some of the donations bringing the total to over £1,000.
Lis and John Mullen, Meg Robb and Helen Hogg will visit Mozambique in April.
