The lay preachers & worship leaders in Northumberland have enjoyed two excellent events recently. In April the Spring Gathering was held in St George’s URC, Morpeth where we spent an interesting and informative afternoon exploring the parables with Revd Carla Grosch-Miller through interpretive reading and drama, teasing out different possible interpretations behind the story.
Then on 12 May the SENEA Preachers and Worship group members met on Holy Island for a Quiet Day led by Revd Rachel Poolman in St Cuthbert’s Centre. We shared our stories and had a time of prayer and reflection before being ‘set free’ to go out and enjoy ourselves, walk on the beach, tour the island, or sit in the garden in glorious sunshine. Some found being cut off by the tide an unusual experience – the island was much quieter which gave people space and quietness to savour this special place. The quality of the worship led by Rachel was wonderful and we ended the day by sharing in communion together.
