Howden le Wear Primary School Reception Class Mock Wedding
The Wedding took place at 1:30pm on Thursday 14th May 2015 at Howden le Wear Methodist Church between Millie Box and Tyler Bennett, both of Howden le Wear. The Minister the Revd Ray Anglesea officiated and the organist was Mr Malcolm Darby
The bride who processed into the church to the music of “Here Comes the Bride” was dressed in a beautiful white dress and was given away by her father. She was attended by 4 bridesmaids, dressed in cream with pink flowers; Tyler was supported by his best man and his groomsmen acted as ushers and photographers. An order of service had been prepared.
After the bride and groom made their promises and exchanged rings they signed a wedding register in the church. Prayers were then led by the minister and a special hymn was sung written by the school children. The wedding procession left the church to the music of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.
Following photographs outside and inside the church the wedding party together with their guests retired to the church hall for a wedding breakfast. Following excellent and amusing speeches by Tyler and his best man the new Mr and Mrs Bennett cut their wedding cake which was later served to all their guests.
A wedding car later took Tyler and Millie to an undisclosed destination.
The wedding formed part of the school’s Religious Education Curriculum in which weddings from a variety of faiths have been considered and discussed. To develop the children’s understanding of this topic a “wedding” was held in the village church where the children took part in the wedding ceremony.
