Jesus said: “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.”
Are you ready for ‘the day’? Is your heart weighed down with the worries of life? Is your ‘to do’ list frankly just too long to achieve everything in time? Are you relying on God’s patience and mercy too…just give us a bit longer please God, as soon as I’ve made this phone call I’ll be with you…if I get the shopping now then I can put my feet up and we will get our time together…there’s a lot to get done today but I’ll feel good to get through it then my mind will be in a better place to reflect with you, I’ll be back…once the kids are in bed we can have our quiet time…my goodness where has the week gone? That’s ok it’s Sunday and we get a whole hour together this morning so that’s good and that will set us up for the week ahead won’t it God? Oh, and as soon as the church roof’s fixed we’ll get round to mission, honest!
Come to God now, acknowledge all the distractions and worries you have and put them to one side and simply take a moment to be silent and still. This is not another task to be done today this is a moment to affirm God’s presence with you through all your tasks of the day.
