Hartlepool Foodbank co-ordinator
0.75FTE, £16,360pa + 7.5% pension contribution, 12 months contract
Hartlepool Foodbank CIO is a franchise of the Trussell Trust, which has established foodbanks all over the country. Hartlepool’s foodbank, owned jointly by around 20 churches, is one of the busiest in the North East region, distributing food for up to 40 or more individuals or families every week – up to 2 tonnes/month – with a team of nearly 40 volunteers. The trustees wish to recruit a successor to the founding co-ordinator who is leaving in the Summer. The co-ordinator manages operations from the HQ at 28 Church Street, with, currently, a part time deputy co-ordinator who manages a warehouse in Hartlepool’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre. A 12 months contract is offered, with the intention to extend it if funding allows.
The coordinator is expected to work closely with the Foodbank trustees for the maintenance and development of the foodbank, reporting to the Board of Trustees through its chair.
The successful candidate is likely to be a committed Christian or at least a person who is wholly sympathetic with the Christian ethos and working practices of the Trussell Trust. As well as having a strong desire to help poor and socially marginalised people, he/she will be an excellent communicator at all levels of society; a competent organiser and networker; and already used to working in the voluntary and community sector, recruiting and managing volunteers and other paid staff. He/she will be conscientious, personable and dependable, competent at keeping records and producing reports – and able to work well unsupervised and under pressure. A DBS advanced disclosure will be needed.
In return remuneration of £16,360pa (+7.5% pension contributions) is offered for a 0.75FTE contract – 27 hours week. Flexible working is encouraged around the foodbank’s opening hours (currently Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 to 2).
A person specification and job specification may be downloaded from the website www.hartlepool.foodbank.org.uk, or in person from Mrs Susan Atkinson (email@example.com; telephone 01429 428558).
