Christmas is coming!
Synod Children’s Advisor Hannah Middleton introduces Building Blocks
Hello and a very warm welcome to this first edition of ‘Building Blocks’ where I hope you will find information and top tips for Children’s workers across the Synod. I hope like me you are planning and preparing for the business of Advent and Christmas which shall soon be upon us, if like me you don’t have all the gifts purchased and wrapped and the cards written (I know some of you have) then don’t panic help is at hand.
This year I feel there is a very clear focus on homemade items made with love. I am sure with all our children’s groups we can encourage this ethic be it recycled craft or budget goodies up-cycled into individual works of art the real message of Christmas will shine out.
As we move closer to the Advent season I hope we can find a moment or two to pause, and reflect, be that with your advent calendars or candles which allow us space and a moment to recall what Christmas really is about. The most amazing gift that never needs recharging, never needs an upgrade and has been given to us all and lasts a lifetime—Jesus a baby who became a child and grew up to do the most amazing things!
I hope all your nativities are a huge success , your Messy Church events allow glitter and glue to flow, you all enjoy meeting families who may just be giving church a visit this Christmas for the first time. May our gift to them be one of friendship ,hospitality and love allowing them to see what a great bunch we all are! I wish you all a very peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year with the resolution to supply items to the next publication!
