Jenny Medhurst writes on the continued success of the Christmas Traidcraft Shop, which is supported by the Synod…
Despite being unavoidably closed for 5 1/2 days our Traidcraft shop in Middlesbrough took over £36,000 (£5,000 more than last year) and more than any year since 2007!
We had lots of very happy customers too – a man who’d just moved up from London told us how impressed he was and bought several significant items, and lots of people wanted us to be open throughout the year – if only!
But through our sales we have supported fair incomes and dignified work in the poorest communities of the world and I’m so glad we were able to do that.
Thank you again for the Church’s support. A customer turned helper this year after her retirement and was amazed at how small our team is – but as I told her each part of the team is vital – and the URC support is one of the critical links!
