“Today February 23, 2015 is the beginning of the school year here in Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Brazil” writes Vasco Sitoe, who has just returned to his studies after spending Christmas and new year back with his family and friends in Mozambique.
In 2012 Vasco, who had been working as a lay evangelist for the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique, was granted a scholarship by the Prebyterian Church of Brazil to pursue a course of study leading to ministry. However, he had no means of taking up this opportunity without someone else offering help.
Through the generosity of our synod churches we were able to promise Vasco that we would not only pay for his ticket across the ocean, but would also cover a mid-course trip home as well. Now he is back in Brazil, and beginning that second half of his course.
“Please accept my warm greetings” he writes, “on behalf of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has called us from the kingdom of darkness into his marvelous light. I want through this to express my deep gratitude for your support, especially by the round trip air ticket. My trip went very well, the reunion with my family was wonderful. I was glad to relive memories and reload new energies for the two years I have left.”
Vasco asks us for his prayers as he continues on his journey towards the ministry to which God has called him.
